Not surprisingly, there’s a big gulf between the under-35 and over-35 age group when it comes to using technology to make purchasing decisions, according to a recent survey by Today Info Retail, an Atlanta-based strategy and design agency.

But while both groups have integrated technology into their shopping habits, 54% of all 18-34 year olds surveyed have used Facebook as an information source in shopping, compared to only 15% of those 35 and older. Similarly, 35% of the younger age group used mobile devices, versus 12% of the older consumers.

Something is wrong on Wall Street.

The whole financial community is aflutter over Facebook shares, which stumbled out of the blocks as a publicly traded company last month.

But that’s not the problem. The problem is that the company’s market capitalization is completely out of whack with acceptable notions of corporate significance and meaningful contributions to society. The value of Facebook shares multiplied by the number of those shares is — at last tally — an amazing $87.33 billion.

A friendly "cash mob" took turns spending $20 at Chagrin Hardware thanks to a groundswell of support for the local business via Facebook.

According to an article at WKYC.com, the Do it Best store in downtown Chagrin Falls, benefited from an idea by a local resident to support his local hardware store. His plan: send a simple e-mail to his friends inviting them to spend $20 at the store on Jan. 21.

The Scottsdale Police Department, working with fraud investigators from eBay, Home Depot, Walmart and federal authorities, arrested 36 suspects involved in a major retail theft syndicate that returned stolen merchandise to retailers and then auctioned the gift cards on eBay, according to a Feb. 25 news release from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. The case has uncovered more than $1.2 million in proceeds from the crime, authorities said.
