The International Professional Pond Companies Association (IPPCA) has a new treasurer.

Valerie Steele, president and CEO of Albuquerque, N.M.-based Savio Engineering, has been named to the board of directors of the International Professional Pond Companies Association (IPPCA). She will serve as treasurer of the organization. The IPPCA is a non-profit organization and serves as the pond and waterscape industry’s official trade association. The IPPCA’s goal is to ensure that high-level, quality standards are met within the waterscape industry.

Boucherville, Quebec-based RONA has entered into an agreement with two of its largest shareholders, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and Invesco Canada, providing for, among other things, changes to its board of directors.

Robert Chevrier, FCA, chairman and director of UniSelect and, until today, chairman and director of Richelieu Hardware, joins RONA’s board as executive chairman, effective immediately. He replaces Robert Paré, who will continue to serve as a board member.

Three executives with long tenures retired from Memphis, Tenn.-based Orgill this month: Bill Fondren, Ken Post and Steve East.

Fondren retired as chairman of the board, but he will remain as a board member. Ron Beal will assume the chairman of the board post.

Ken Post was chief merchandise officer, a position to be filled by Brett Hammers. And Steve East was VP advertising. His replacement is Jeff Curler.

The board of directors of Masco Corp. has appointed Donald Parfet as a director, according to a Dec. 4 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He will serve on the board’s audit committee.

Parfet, 60, is the managing director of Apjohn Group, a business development company, and a general partner of Apjohn Ventures Fund Limited Partnership, a venture capital fund. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Kelly Services and Rockwell Automation.

Ronald Sargent has resigned from the Home Depot board of directors, effective immediately, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Sargent did not cite any disagreement on any matter relating to the company’s operations, policies or practices, according to the SEC statement.

Former Stock Building Supply executives Fenton Hord and Steve Short are among the industry veterans behind Cornerstone Building Alliance, LLC, a new holding company looking to invest in distributors, manufacturers and installers. 

Cornerstone’s leadership team includes president and CEO Steve Short, former Stock Building Supply COO, and Fenton Hord, longtime president and CEO of Stock and current Board Member of Investors Management Corporation (IMC), Cornerstone’s parent company.

BlueLinx Holdings, the Atlanta-based distributor of building materials, announced in an Aug. 10 Securities and Exchange [SEC] filing that board member Robert Warden has submitted his resignation, effective Aug. 6.

The reason given was that Warden has also resigned from Cerberus ABP Investor, the largest stockholder of BlueLinx Holdings. Warden was a managing director at Cerberus.

Doyle Simons, the former chairman and CEO of Temple-Inland, has joined the board of directors of Weyerhaeuser, effective June 29, 2012, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The 49-year-old executive held various positions with Temple-Inland, including executive VP from 2005 through 2007 and chief administrative officer from 2003 to 2005. He became CEO and chairman in 2008 and served until February 2012, when Temple-Inland was acquired by International Paper Co.

Federal Way, Wash.-based Weyerhaeuser Co. announced that Doyle Simons, 48, will join its board of directors, effective June 29.

Simons' appointment follows the departure of Arnold Langbo, who retired from Weyerhaeuser's board in 2011.

Owens Corning has added John Williams, the president and CEO of Domtar, as its newest director, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Williams was elected after the Owens Corning board decided to increase its size by one member. His term expires in 2014.

Williams will serve on the audit and finance committees.

Domtar Corp. is a Montreal-based producer of paper and pulp products.

Richard Tadler will be stepping down from the Lumber Liquidators board of directors, effective June 30, 2011.

Tadler has been with the board since 2004, when TA Associates, the private equity firm of which he is a managing director, originally invested in the company. TA Associates divested its interest in the Toano, Va.-based retailer of hardwood flooring in 2009.
