Julie Lyle, chief marketing officer for Indianapolis appliance, electronics and furniture retailer hhgregg, has been named the 2015 chairperson for the Global Retail Marketing Association (GRMA) Advisory Board.

As chairperson, Lyle will lead the GRMA Advisory Board and play a key role in the development of the organization’s strategic initiatives and thought leadership. Lyle succeeds Brian Beitler, EVP and chief marketing officer, David’s Bridal, who served as chairman from 2012 to 2014.

Outdoor dining chairs sold at Costco are being recalled because they pose a fall hazard.

The legs of the chairs of the Fairview 7-piece patio woven dining set from Dimension Industries can bend and break, according to the recall notice.

Dimension has received three reports of the chair legs bending or breaking and causing falls, including one consumer who bumped his head when falling.

The recall involves about 6,700 units, which were sold exclusively at Costco Wholesale stores nationwide from January 2014 to March 2014 for about $1,300 per set.

Jonas is the grandson of JAY-K founder Joseph Kelly and has played an active role in the family business since the age of 13, interrupted only by his college years at Hobart College and year-long tenure at Somerville Lumber shortly thereafter.

Outgoing NLBMDA chairman Chuck Bankston took some time at the open of the ProDealer Industry Summit to formally pass the gavel to Chris Yenrick, who will replace him as chair in 2014.

"I hope I won't have to use this too much," quipped Yenrick as he accepted the gavel from Bankston.

Yenrick, who is president of Smith Phillips Building Supply in Winston-Salem, N.C., stressed the importance of succession planning, grassroots activism and pulling younger generations into the aging industry.

Apex Tool Group has appointed two new executives to its board of directors.

Thomas Wroe Jr., Sensata Technologies' chairman of the board and former CEO, will serve as chairman and will also be a member of the board's Compensation Committee. Terry Klebe, retired Cooper Industries vice chairman and CFO, will serve as Chair of the Audit Committee.

Jim Ackroyd, CEO of Vision Ace Hardware in Naples, Fla., will assume chairman-of-the board status at Ace Hardware Corp. in June 2014.

Ace Hardware, which underwent a CEO transition earlier this year as John Venhuizen replaced the retiring Ray Griffith, delayed the transition of the chairman position to mitigate disruption, according to the co-op.

Ackroyd will replace Dave Ziegler of Ziegler’s Ace, which has nine locations in Illinois. Vision Ace operates 11 locations in Florida.

The EEOC also sued Dolgencorp, doing business as Dollar General, in Chicago. For 10 years Dollar General made certain types of convictions a disqualifying factor.

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) announced its new leadership team at the WDMA Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.   

At the meeting, the WDMA board of directors elected Mike Salsieder, of Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork in Wausau, Wis., as the association's 2013-2014 chair, replacing outgoing chair Ann Duebner of Eggers Industries in Two Rivers, Wis.
