Huntersville, North Carolina-based impact driver company Irwin has unveiled the second phase of its Impact Performance Series line of accessories. This phase expands the line beyond fastening into extracting, drilling and power bits.

“The second phase of the Impact Performance Series expands our initial offering, which was originally focused on the fastener drive category only,” Irwin’s marketing director, John Schlosser, said. “Irwin’s expansion … provides the right impact accessory for nearly all impact driver applications.”

Kwikset -- which is part of Spectrum Brands Holdings -- is sponsoring Richard Childress Racing and driver Ryan Newman during the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Season this year.

Per the partnership, Kwikset will be the primary sponsor and paint scheme for Newman's car during the Kansas Race in Kansas City on May 10. The Kwisket logo will also be displayed on Newman's No. 31 car for every race this season.

These cordless tools are powered by the Black & Decker extended runtime 20V MAX* Lithium Ion Battery, and include a 1/2 Inch Drill/Driver, Impact Driver, Reciprocating Saw, and Circular Saw.

In addition to its title as the "Official Paint of NASCAR' -- a multi-year partnership that the company signed this past May -- Sherwin-Williams will also become the 'Official Automotive Paint of NASCAR' effective Jan. 1.

The company said that it was "leveraging its recent designation for architectural paint and the power of NASCAR's intellectual property to activate at its more than 3,500 stores nationwide and ignite the passion of its customers -- many of whom are fiercely brand-loyal fans of the sport."

Outlaw Fasteners is looking to raise money through "crowdsourced funds" to develop a new deck screw system.

The company is launching its screw and bit product on Kickstarter Oct. 1.

"Our team has created the first major innovation in screw technology in over 80 years," said Ron Elmore, director of marketing for Outlaw Fasteners.

Stanley Black & Decker is serving up new products for fall via its Porter-Cable and Bostitch lines, both of which are in the process of launching new power tools.

The Bostitch collection will include corded and 18v cordless tools for contractors, carpenters, remodelers, electricians, plumbers and HVAC professionals.

Specifically, the line features an 18V Cordless Drill/Driver, 18V Cordless Impact Driver, 1/2 inch Hammer Drill, 7-1/4 inch Circular Saw, Orbital Jigsaw, Reciprocating Saw, 4-1/2 inch Angle Grinder and 3/8 inch Corded Drill.

According to a new market research report titled "Landscaping Products to 2017" by ReportsnReports.com, U.S. demand for landscaping products is expected to come out of its recession slump and grow at an annual rate of 6.9% through 2017, placing the market worth at $6.5 billion in four years' time.

Heightened construction activity is cited as top driver behind this growth, coupled with energized existing home sales and a drop in office vacancy rates.

Based on its own June sales records, tool retailer CPO Outlets has released a trend report following this year's Father's Day season. 

The number one seller for Dad in 2013 was the Black & Decker LST136 - 36V Cordless Lithium-Ion 13-in Straight Shaft Electric String Trimmer. Runners-up were a drill driver kit from Skil, a cordless lithium-ion kit from Makita, a cordless worksite radio and charger from DeWalt and a Greenworks electric lawn mower.

John Menard, founder of Eau Claire, Wis.-based Menards, celebrated the upset victory at the Brickyard 400 with his son at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The win was the first for Paul Menard, after 167 races.
