Central Garden & Pet names new president, CEO

Central Garden & Pet has announced that John Ranelli has been named president and CEO, effective at the company's annual shareholder meeting on Feb. 11, 2013.

Central Garden & Pet has announced that John Ranelli has been named president and CEO, effective at the company's annual shareholder meeting on Feb. 11, 2013. Ranelli has been a member of the board of directors of Central Garden & Pet and a member of the board's audit committee since 2010. He will remain on Central's Board.

Bill Brown, Central's chairman and CEO, will continue as chairman.

HD board member resigns

Ronald Sargent has resigned from the Home Depot board of directors, effective immediately, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Sargent did not cite any disagreement on any matter relating to the company’s operations, policies or practices, according to the SEC statement.

Lumber Liquidators announces change at the top

Flooring retailer Lumber Liquidators has announced that Robert Lynch, its current president and chief operating officer, will succeed current CEO Jeffrey Griffiths on Jan. 1, 2012. As part of the company’s succession plan, Griffiths will also retire from the board of directors at the same time.

Fortune Brands unit elects Sherwin-Williams president to board

Fortune Brands Home & Security (FBHS), which intends to spin off from Fortune Brands today, named John Morikis to the company's board of directors, effective Dec. 1.

Morikis is president and chief operating officer of The Sherwin-Williams Co., an $8 billion global leader in the paint and coatings industry. He was elected COO of Sherwin-Williams in 2006.

Atlanta-based Beazer Homes has named Allan Merrill as president and CEO. He has also been elected to the board of directors. Robert (Bob) Salomon has been appointed executive VP and CFO.

William Farrell retires from AHMA

The 30-year AHMA veteran will retire as vice chairman of the American Hardware Manufacturers Association (AHMA), but will remain as a liftetime honorary member of the board.

After more than 30 years of service to the AHMA, Farrell will assume the title of vice chairman emeritus, according to the Schaumburg, Ill.-based industry group. He will continue to represent the association at various industry events.
