Tampa, Florida-based Anvil Paint & Coatings promoted Glenn R. Roth to the position of CEO. 

Roth has worked to develop the Anvil brand for 16 years, and in that time has been present for Anvil’s most recent expansions as the company now occupies more than 55,000 square feet on five acres to produce for national paint sundries and market channels.

The paint company has crowned Coral Reef (SW 6606) as its 2015 Color of the Year -- in its words, an "uplifting, vivacious hue" that's "perfectly suited to celebrate a mid-decade year that's poised for revitalization."

True Value Company reported sales gains during the third quarter of 2014, lifted partly by seasonal and paint departments.

Net revenue of $350.6 million were up 1.0% over the third quarter of 2013. The company's gross billings came in at $466.4 million, up 2.4%.

Net margin fell 35.3% to $12.1 million, a decrease True Value blames on the timing of the Fall Reunion.

Benjamin Moore's Natura, Ultra Spec 500 and zero-VOC waterborne colorants have earned the supplier a Silver-level certification from MBDC's Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.

This marks the first premium paint manufacturer to earn the designation from MBDC. It also means the products qualify for credit under LEED v4.

Cradle to Cradle was part of an effort to encourage the development of products that influence the environment for the better -- not just avoid harming it further.

PPG Industries has agreed to acquire Westmoreland Supply, a Pittsburgh-based architectural paint distributor with 12 stores in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Upon completion of the deal, Westmoreland will be rebranded under the PPG Paints store brand.

The future, according to Benjamin Moore, is understated -- and agreeably silvery green. The paint company announced that Guilford Green HC-116 would be its 2015 Color of the Year.

Benjamin Moore also released Color Trends 2015, a palette of 23 complementary colors in various green, blue, blush and berry shades.

Natchez, Mississippi-based Central Network Retail Group expanded further into the Southeast, bringing Hiawassee Hardware of Hiawassee, Georgia to its portfolio of stores.

Orlando, Florida – Ace’s current merchandise strategy is heavy on the paint department, but there were plenty of other categories making news in the 850,000 square feet of exhibits here at the Orange County Convention Center.

Ace Hardware VP Merchandising Frank Carroll, speaking during the General Session here at the 2014 Fall Ace Convention & Exhibits, described the market as “a retail wonderland” with paint leading the way.

Port Washington, New York-based PACOA just got back from its Annual Fall Dealer Market in Queens, and according to the distributor, it was one for the books.

This year's event boasted "record-breaking" attendance and sales, driven largely by the attendance of some big names in paint, hardware and lumber, according to PACOA.

Several new vendors were also on-hand, including GACO, Dickies, Chapin, Frog Tape, ZEP and more.

More than 200 manufacturers participated in the Fall Dealer Market, offering competitive promotions and new product glimpses.

Central Network Retail Group and Elliott’s Hardware are pleased to announce that construction has begun on a new store in northeast Dallas at 9540 Casa Linda Plaza, near the corner of Garland Road and Buckner Boulevard. The 14,500-sq.-ft. store will feature a broad assortment of hardware, lawn and garden, grilling and outdoor living, paint, electrical, plumbing, and home organization products. It will also feature Hardware Plus, Elliott’s decorative plumbing and door hardware showroom.

Benjamin Moore is putting a “Monster Green” coat on its 12-year partnership with the Boston Red Sox with the launch of The Fenway Collection, a limited-edition collection of paints featuring the colors of Fenway Park. 

The Fenway Collection is now available exclusively at select New England-area Benjamin Moore retailers.

The Fenway Collection encapsulates the spirit of Fenway Park by bringing together the ballpark's five most iconic colors, including Green Monster, Boston Blue, Boston Red, Baseline White and Foul Pole Yellow.

The Merit Distribution Group will acquire Dynamic Paint Products, a 40-year-old family-owned distributor and manufacturer of paint-related products based out of Toronto, Canada.

The companies announced the deal early Tuesday. Terms were not disclosed.

Originally named Mumby and Associates, Dynamic mainly served the Toronto area, but over the years has seen exponential growth throughout Canada. Dynamic’s brand of paint-related products are currently sold throughout the world.

New Englanders will be able bring the colors of Fenway Park home with the help of a new limited-edition line of paints from Benjamin Moore.

The Fenway Collection has five colors — Green Monster, Boston Blue, Boston Red, Baseline White and Foul Pole Yellow — all of which have been released to commemorate the paint company’s 12-year partnership with the Boston Red Sox.

Benjamin Moore is expanding its line of Regal Select Exterior paint with a new product made to adhere better to vinyl siding.

Customers in the Northeast and Midwest, as well as New Englanders will be able to buy the company’s new Revive paint, which contains Vinyl-Lock technology, which prevents peeling and fading once the paint has been applied.

The new product comes after the company conducted a study that found that respondents considering painting vinyl siding would prefer a product made specifically for that purpose.

Ace Hardware affiliate Klinker's Lumber & Building Supply of Waverly City, Ohio, was recognized by the state's House of Representatives for opening a new paint studio in May.

The store's paint studio — essentially a remodeled and rethought version of its paint section — now sells Valspar paints, including their Aspire and Professional line of paints, in addition to the Ace line of paint. The paint studio will also allow employees to mix custom paint colors to match customers' color palettes.

Continuing its trajectory of recent expansion, PPG Industries announced that its North American architectural coatings business has acquired Pittsburgh-based Masterwork Paint Company.

Masterwork is an independent architectural paint distributor with 13 stores throughout Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York.

PPG Industries has picked up where Sherwin-Williams left off.

The Pittsburgh-based paint and coatings giant PPG agreed to acquire Consorcio Comex, an architectural and industrial coatings company with headquarters in Mexico City, Mexico.

The transaction is valued at $2.3 billion.

This latest addition to virtual reality-based home improvement applications -- most recently exemplified by Lowe's -- helps consumers visualize paint colors in their own homes.

Krylon is trying to speed up spray paint projects with its new line of Dual Superbond Paint + Primer.

The new paint -- which is available in 24 colors -- uses a formula that prevents rust and cuts out the need for primer or a sander, removing an entire step from metal painting projects.

Dual Superbond dries in about 25 minutes and adheres to such substances as melamine and plastic.
