Newell Rubbermaid has named Joseph Arcuri president, Home Solutions and Jeff Hohler president of the Tools segment.

Arcuri is joining the company from Procter & Gamble's North American Beauty business, where he most recently served as VP and general manager. His 25-year career at P&G has included spades of global product development, marketing and general management experience, with work on brands like Vicks, Olay, Gillette, Old Spice, Secret and Ivory.

Miracle-Gro is teaming up with the Pasadena Tournament of Roses to lend a helping hand at nearby urban farm Muir Ranch this Thanksgiving season.

This Nov. 24, the two organizations will be working to expand a natural pollinator garden at Muir Ranch, as well as distribute fresh produce and Thanksgiving-themed food boxes to needy local families.

Besides Miracle-Gro reps, present on the scene will be local dinitaries, Tournament of Roses president Richard Chinen, Mayor Bill Bogaard and local school district board member Tyron Hampton.

UFP Western Division, a subsidiary of Universal Forest Products, Inc. has completed its acquisition of certain assets of Bigs Packaging and Lumber, LLC, an industrial wood and packaging solutions supplier.

Dallas, Texas-based Bigs was founded in 2011 and is already at an annual sales pace of $50 million.

KB Home named Jon Adler to the role of president, D.C. Metro division. He joins the company from McLean, Virginia-based The Georgelas Group, where he was a partner and creator of Bryton Homes, of which he served as president and CEO.

Freemont, Ohio-based Gordon Lumber has selected Erin Leonard to become the company's new president. 

The company employs 132 people in nine locations and was founded in 1868.

Leonard, who started with Gordon Lumber in 2011 and most recently served as chief operating officer, was chosen to fill the role of president after an extensive nationwide search.

Garden Media Group released its annual garden trends report for 2015, which includes nine gardening and lifestyle trends influencing the industry.

Among them is the increased awareness of backyard cannabis. 

“First it was ‘eat your garden.’ Then it was ‘drink your garden.’ Now, it’s ‘smoke your garden,’” says Susan McCoy, president of Philadelphia-basedGarden Media. “Marijuana is going to become a great ornamental plant as people continue to customize their garden and outdoor space to meet their needs.”

Fastenal CEO Willard Oberton has officially tendered his resignation to the company's board of directors, which has already named a successor in president Leland Hein Jr.

Hein has been with the company since 1985 and has held various sales and managerial roles, including general manager, district manager, regional VP and EVP sales. He has been serving as president since July 2012.

Oberton gave his notice on Nov. 3, stating that he plans to resign, effective Dec. 31, 2014. Hein will step into his new role on Jan. 1.

San Diego -- The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association's board of directors appointed Jonathan Paine as the new president and CEO of the organization at its annual meeting on Oct. 28 at the ProDealer Industry Summit here.

Paine has been serving as the association's executive VP since 2012 and replaces outgoing president Michael O'Brien, who is assuming other responsibilities with NLBMDA's management firm, SmithBucklin.

Dankel served as the chair of the association's Manufactures and Services Council from 2012-2014.

Gregory Cairo, president of Groupe SEB USA has been named treasurer of the International Housewares Association.

He joined Groupe SEB USA as VP of sales in August 2006, and was named president in 2010. He oversses the cookware and small domestic appliances for brands including All Clad, Emeril, Imusa, Krups, Lagostina, and T-fal.

As officer of the IHA, Cairo will serve a one-year tem, ending Sept. 30, 2015.

This means the tools don't rely on gas or oil, delivering gas-comparable power without the need for tune-ups, maintenance or emissions.

Mt. Prospect, Illinois-based Skilsaw Power Tools has rebranded itself with a new logo and the introduction of two new direct drive Sidewinder circular saws.

The new brand identity draws on the company's heritage as the inventor of the circular saw in 1924: the logo design features an iconic "diamond knockout" from a worm drive saw blade.

Beacon Roofing Supply has completed its acquisition of Dallas-based Wholesale Roofing Supply, a distributor of residential roofing materials.

With projected sales of about $34 million in 2014, WRS maintains a nine-acre facility in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie, serving the Dallas and Fort Worth areas.

WRS President Rick McLaughlin will remain onboard as leader of the unit after the transition is completed.

Xylem Group, LLC, a kitchen and bath products company, has changed its corporate name to Xync Brands, LLC. 

The company also changed is the former Xylem product brand name—now Ryvyr —and its former Xylem Hospitality division name, which has become Xync Contract. 

The name changes of the Roswell, Georgia based company take effect immediately. 

With a concentration in the kitchen and bath industry, Xync Brands president Hal Weinstein plans to take the new Ryvyr brand name to market with an array of upcoming, exciting new products.

D.R. Horton, Inc.'s vice chairman, president and CEO Donald Tomnitz has officially retired, having been succeeded by David Auld on Oct. 1.

Auld was previously serving as EVP and COO and has now taken on the formal title of president and CEO. He has been with the company since 1988, initially joining the team as division president, Orlando. He was promoted to region president for Florida and the Carolinas in 2005, and he was tapped to serve in his most recent role last November.

Fastenal Company has acquired certain assets of Av-Tech Industries, a wholesale distributor of aerospace fasteners, electronic components and aircraft parts.

The new addition to CNRG marks the network's fifth store in Georgia, and its 47th in the United States.
